Addo Recovery Of California

Counseling in California:
Wendy Lewis
PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LCSW

Wendy specializes in working with teenagers, college students, couples, and adults with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. “It is a privilege and honor to walk alongside my clients to guide, encourage, and empower them in identifying their strengths, resources, and abilities to make the changes they desire.

When working with teenagers and college students, Wendy believes in establishing a relationship built on honest communication and trust. This is a crucial time of figuring out who you are and who you want to become. Transitioning from your parents/caretakers into becoming more independent can be a challenging process. At a time when there are a lot of pressures, expectations, and decisions you have to make, Wendy wants to be available to support, teach, and challenge you to reach your goals and dreams.

When working with adults, Wendy provides a warm, nonjudgmental, and safe environment which allows her clients to explore their feelings and thoughts, past hurts, and patterns of behavior that may serve as barriers in their relationships and goals in life. Wendy wants to truly hear your story, help you understand it, and support you through the process. Wendy wants to challenge you to move forward in the direction you desire to be all you can be.

When working with couples, Wendy teaches effective communication skills, helps you explore past hurts that may be resulting in a disconnect from one another, encourages you to meet one another’s emotional intimacy needs, and inspires you to laugh and play together.

Wendy has been providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, college students, adults, couples, and families for 25 years. She uses a client focused, supportive approach, integrating a variety of techniques including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). Her approach is strengths based and solution focused. Wendy believes in providing her clients with practical tools that they can use throughout the week and a sense of hope that they can accomplish making the changes they desire.

Wendy has been married to her husband for 27 years and they have two young adult children. Wendy enjoys running, hiking, traveling, card making, and spending time with family and friends.

Restore Self-Worth, Hope And Connection.

Restore Self-Worth, Hope And Connection.Learning about a partner’s infidelity can be emotionally and physically devastating. Working with a certified therapist for affair recovery in California can help both partners to heal and move forward. When trust and safety are broken through infidelity, the reaction is manifested in characteristics aligned with PTSD; namely depression, anxiety, flashbacks, recurrent nightmares, and avoidance of reminders of the event. Some mental health professionals have labeled it Post-Infidelity Stress Disorder (PISD), for the stress and emotional turmoil experienced afterward.

PISD follows much of the same emotional pattern as PTSD. The betrayed partner will often have recurring thoughts of their partner with another. They might also replay past benign events, searching for clues of infidelity. Like PTSD, those in affair recovery in California may suffer from rage or despair after the initial shock of discovering the infidelity, followed by a state of emotional hollowness. Those in recovery may withdraw from friends or family, and lose interest in formerly enjoyable activities.

Those suffering from PISD may also have erratic sleep patterns, have difficulty concentrating, and overall have their work performance and family life severely affected. Partners may feel hopeless and suffer from anxiety, which makes it difficult to regulate emotions. This can impair problem-solving abilities, creating further feelings of loneliness and fear.

The Addo Recovery Process.

At our California facility, affair recovery begins with an assessment to identify the depth and breadth of the trauma. Our certified therapists work with both partners to understand the situation and establish open communication.

Using these assessments, our therapists will develop additional qualitative understanding, facilitating the development of a personalized recovery plan. We use a number of therapeutic techniques, which can include individual therapy, group therapy, EMDR therapy, couples therapy, yoga therapy and/or mindfulness.

Once we create a personalized plan, we match each individual or couple with a therapist that is the best fit for their needs. The success of affair recovery in California is determined by matching a therapist with the right specialization and personality for each case.

The journey of recovery is an often-lengthy process that requires work from both parties. It requires personal recovery, marriage recovering, and a rebuilding of trust, if the couple is interested in staying together. In addition to affair recovery, our therapists are available for Sexual Addiction Recovery and Betrayal Trauma Therapy.
