I will help my clients through difficulties with compassion and direct them to specific action when they need that support. I am skilled at finding problematic behavioral and emotional patterns that clients have been unable to recognize on their own. I help them begin to see these patterns that move them to take action to make real changes and become closer in their relationships and to themselves. My approach includes Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic, as well as the use of EMDR Therapy for trauma and anxiety processing. When working with couples I also use the Imago approach. Through the Imago approach clients find that seemingly irrational thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be understood and healed by finding their underlying unsatisfied needs and childhood experiences. Thus, bringing them into the present-day context of a marriage or partnership. The couple works toward greater acceptance of each other through insights, specific exercises and behavioral changes, creating a deeper stronger connection with each other. In my private sessions and group therapy I use a good sense of humor while affirming the human condition.

I knew when I was 17 that I would either be an eye doctor, rock star, or work in the field of psychology. Well, I still wear glasses, sing and play guitar a little, but as you may guess it was psychology that ended up the winner! I have an eclectic background that includes Psychology, Chinese Medicine, Nutritional therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and energy work that includes Reiki and Medical Qigong. I have taught over 50 public health and wellness courses, classes and workshops and hundreds of group classes. I had an extensive internship with Linda Paoli, CSAT-S that professionally brought me into this specialization as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. I only utilize what is the most appropriate and beneficial for my clients in my present-day psychotherapy practice.
