Amy Andrus

Therapist Experience Director | CSAT | LMFT | EFT

Amy has taught several courses in the BYU Family Science Department, including Preparation for Marriage and Parenting. She published her Masters Thesis in the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy and presented at National Conferences. She has worked at the BYU Women's Services and Resources Center where she counseled many students. It was during her time at the Women’s Services and Resources Center that her eyes were opened to the world of sexual addiction and trauma. In addition, she has spent time working in a residential treatment facility where she counseled adolescents struggling with a wide array of addictions including eating disorders, drugs & alcohol, and sex addiction.

Amy's life has been affected by sex addiction in a most personal way. She knows the struggle, shame, and guilt the addict experiences. She also knows the pain, confusion, and self esteem battle the addict’s partner suffers. She believes that with honesty in a marriage, true intimacy can emerge and relationships can have incredible depth, compassion, forgiveness, kindness, and love. She has found it rewarding to facilitate individual change and work with the family system to ensure long-term growth and change.

In addition to working with adolescents and their families, she also enjoys working with couples who were premarital, marital, or blending families.

Amy's greatest defining experience of her life is motherhood. She has six of the most amazing children ever born. Her youngest daughter has Down Syndrome, and raising her has taught her countless life lessons.
